Responsibilities
|
Alabama State University, Office of Human Resources, invites applications to fill the position of Assistant Vice President for Human Resources. This position performs human resources administration related function consisting of planning, organizing and directing the work of a professional staff in addition to maintaining and administering the pay and classification plans and the university’s staffing and recruiting. The Assistant Vice President receives limited supervision from the Vice President of Human Resources and exercises independent judgment in conducting job functions. The Assistant Vice President formulates and implements strategies to better utilize staff/resources to meet the needs of clients, decrease operational costs, and improve departmental efficiency; consults with the Vice President on more in-depth controversial issues such as legal matters, policies, rules and regulations; advises department heads, senior level administrators, faculty, staff, and the public regarding the human resources policies, procedures, laws and programs; acts in the absence of the Vice President ; conducts salary studies to determine the market value of jobs and performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Human Resources.

Requirements
|
Master’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Public or Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university, 8 years of human resources management experience, including 3 years developing and administering classifications and selection procedures required or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
