Growing transportation, warehouse and logistics company headquartered in Mobile, AL with 18 locations throughout the Southeast is seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Director of HR / Training / Safety / Compliance.  The position has several significant roles within our company and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

  • The Human Resource function of the position is responsible the following:
  • Day to day management of independent contractor coordinator.
  • Maintenance of company policies and procedures, communication to all employees and compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Creation and maintenance of job levels and related compensation levels.
  • Assist with recruitment, creation of job ads and placement and evaluation of ads.
  • Document and ensure compliance with hiring and vendor selection standards.
  • Create, implement, manage and communicate the results of employee evaluation process.
  • Manage all facets of employee relations, complaints and exit interviews.
  • Administration of all employee benefit plans - insurance, 401(k), etc.

The Training / Safety / Compliance function of the position is responsible for the following:

  • Establish and implement effective employee training programs for all job functions companywide.
  • The creation of and on going administration of company safety programs.
  • Remain current on all legal issues facing the transportation industry and the use of independent contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all related regulatory agencies - OSHA, DOT, TSA, etc.
  • Creation of companywide security standards and on going audit of compliance.
  • Proactively manage all claims by creating a claims tracking mechanism and coordinating effective resolution of all claims by coordinating efforts of terminals, customer, attorneys, regulatory agencies and insurance companies.

Requirements:

  • A college degree and a minimum of 8 years experience of proven success in the field of Human Resources.
  • Additionally experience in the following areas would prove very beneficial:
  • Experience in the transportation industry
  • Experience in an environment supporting multiple locations covering a broad geographic area
  • Experience with independent contractors
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies
