TITLE: Benefits Coordinator Monday – Friday
Regular/Full-time 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or a related field and three years professional human resources experience. Benefits administration experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Interprets policies and benefits to employees and department heads; provides information by phone or in person regarding employee benefits; conducts faculty and staff employee benefit orientations; addresses internal and external inquiries concerning the USA Health Plan; assists faculty and staff employees in completion of salary reduction agreements for 403(b) and 457(b) salary deferrals; compiles information regarding employees’ previous salary deferrals; annually monitors employee contributions to ensure the allowable contribution limits are not exceeded; provides employees with assistance/explanations concerning Teachers’ Retirement System issues such as filing for retirement, vesting, purchase of military and/or out-of-state service and sick leave conversion for service credit; provides annual census reports to insurance carriers for life and LTD insurance coverages; assists faculty and staff in filing for optional life insurance, death and disability claims; provides assistance/explanations regarding life and disability insurance; reviews payroll reports and informs employees of increases in optional life insurance deductions annually; provides information regarding FML to faculty, staff, and administrative employees; reviews personnel action forms and determines FML eligibility; maintains FML information in the payroll system, using Banner; sends correspondence to employees regarding FML; reviews monthly reports from payroll and sends appropriate correspondence to employees regarding certifications and unpaid employee benefit premiums; prepares reports and conducts special surveys as assigned; serves as a liaison between Human Resources and Payroll to provide required paperwork for employee benefits and changes in benefits as necessary; assists in organizing the annual Employee Benefits Fair to include contacting vendors and sponsors, arranging place, space, and time, and preparing brochures for events; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
