There’s no shortage of networking and professional development opportunities
for SHRM members in the coming months. In addition to the April 8 Mobile

– with stops in Baldwin County, Pensacola and Birmingham in between!
Mobile SHRM and Other Chapter/Council Activities
Why else is going on? Educational opportunities – and opportunities
to earn credit, credit and more credit – are plentiful!
- Mobile SHRM’s members-only networking reception will be held May
5 at the Blue Gill. Details are provided in this newsletter.
If you’re not a chapter member and you’ve been thinking about joining,
do it now so you can attend!

its annual full-day legal conference on May 12 at New World Landing.

for May 17 and 18 in Birmingham. See www.SHRMAlabama.org to learn
more.

County SHRM will host a conference on the Risks and Rewards of
Social Media on May 25 in Daphne. Visit http://bcshrm.shrm.org/events/2011/05/risk-rewards-social-media-workplace-250-ceu to learn more.
- Gulf Coast Human Resource Conference: Go ahead and
mark your calendars for the Gulf Coast Human Resource Conference
while you’re updating your scheduled. It will be held November
18 at the Mobile Convention Center.
- The SHRM 2011 Annual Conference

Convention Center. To learn more, see http://annual.shrm.org/
Isn’t it great to have so many opportunities to grow as an HR professional
through your association with SHRM at the national, chapter and
state council level? I hope to see you at one or more of these
great events!
Regards,
Mary White, Chapter President |

Find
your shadow!
HR students in the USA SHRM Student Chapter would like to shadow you
to gain insight into what is involved in human resource management.
Shadowing offers students an up-close look inside a workplace, by providing
an opportunity to spend work time with an HR professional. Students
observe the application of specific HR practices, but more importantly
observe professional behavior in the workplace.
HR professionals will be matched to students based on students’ interest
in your industry or HR specialty. Shadowing can last from a half day
to two full days, based on your schedule. To participate in the showing
program, please e-mail Dr. Marjorie Icenogle (micenogle@usouthal.edu),
who will put you in contact with one or two students. |
