From The President's Desk
Becoming More was the theme for SHRM’s national conference in Chicago, last month. Various speakers encouraged 15,100 HR practitioners to strive to become more (smarter, savvier, brighter, braver, and stronger). After hearing many dynamic speakers, I walked away with a renewed awareness that self-improvement is the measuring stick to how I impact my profession, my life, and our world. Nothing can change, unless the change starts first with me. Not just with me, but with all of us. Individually and collectively we can: learn more, volunteer more, step out of our comfort zones more, and plainly just do more.
I’m sure that most of you know the starfish story…one little boy picking up a beached starfish out of the sand and throwing it back into the water. His focus wasn't on saving them all, but striving to save just one. One more...that’s all it really takes to make a difference.
Lets accept the challenge, tweak our focus, and work towards Becoming More every day.
