SHRM Scholarship Application Deadline

SHRM Foundation

REMINDER:  DEADLINE APPROACHING  - Application deadline July 15, 2014
A total of $122,500 is awarded annually in scholarships to SHRM members pursuing degrees in HR-related fields or professional certification.
Eligibility for Certification Scholarship

  • You must have a current SHRM membership as of July 15, 2014. SHRM student members are not eligible for this program. (View scholarships for SHRM student members.)
  • You must be preparing to sit for the PHR, SPHR, GPHR or CA certification. Members who have already taken one of those certification exams in the 2014 calendar year are also eligible to apply.  More information on certification.

Eligibility for Academic Scholarship

  • You must have a current SHRM membership as of July 15, 2014. SHRM student members are not eligible for this program. (View scholarships for SHRM student members.)
  • You must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program pursuing an undergraduate, masters or doctorate degree in an HR-related field (includes business, psychology, organizational development, etc.) through an accredited institution of higher learning. Full-time, part-time, online and distance learning programs are acceptable. Scholarships are for college degree programs only, and may not be used to attend professional development seminars.
  • You must be accepted and ready to begin your studies within six months following notification of the award. Scholarship recipients will be required to provide evidence of acceptance or enrollment in an HR-related program of study in order to claim their award. Applicants who have already completed their studies are not eligible for this award and may not apply for a scholarship to cover past expenses.

Each scholarship is a one-time award; however previous applicants and past scholarship recipients are eligible to re-apply.
Employees or board members of SHRM, HRCI or the SHRM Foundation and members of their immediate family are not eligible to apply for SHRM Foundation grants, awards or scholarships.

Applications must be completed and submitted online by July 15, 2014. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship results by October 15. Scholarship checks will be distributed by the end of the year, after receipt of tax ID and enrollment verification.

HR Internships Needed

Still Looking For HR Interns!!!

Internship LookoutHR students in the Mitchell College of Business are in need of Human resource management internships for spring semester.


  • Students must work at least 150 hours, approximately 10 hours per week in a 15 week semester (15 hours per week summer semester).
  • Students are engaged in meaningful HR/business work and projects, not just menial office tasks.
  • Supervisors and students jointly complete the internship applications
  • Supervisors complete two performance appraisal forms provided by the management department.
  • Students are paid at least minimum wage, unless employed by a not for profit.
  • Students maintain a log of daily activities and hours worked.
  • Students write a report describing what they learn and their experiences as an intern.

HR students in the USA SHRM Student Chapter would like to shadow you to gain insight into what is involved in human resource management .Shadowing offers students an up-close look inside a workplace, by providing an opportunity to spend work time with an HR professional.  Students observe the application of specific HR practices, but more importantly observe professional behavior in the workplace.
