NLRB Takes First Step Toward Revising Ambush Election Rules
“SHRM submitted comments to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) on revising the "ambush election" rule.  SHRM, in its comments, asked that the Amended Rule be rescinded or changed in specific areas to allow employers adequate time to respond to a unionization campaign and provide employees adequate time to understand the benefits and challenges of unionization before they vote.
SHRM also argued that the Amended Rule's expanded information-gathering requirements for the election eligibility list (often called an "excelsior list") should be changed because they infringe on employee privacy.

In the coming months, the NLRB will review the information they have received from stakeholders in response to the request for information. Next steps will depend on whether the board decides to propose changes to the rule or rescind the rule in its entirety” (Nancy Hammer, SHRM.org)

Allowing Difference to Make Difference, Huntsville, AL – Diversity and Inclusion Symposium:

Karla Rodgers recently attended the ALSHRM sponsored event in April and had this to say; “The symposium was amazing.  We discovered ourselves in a new way.  The first presentation was on Diversity of Thought and gave us another tool to use for insight on how we can effectively work together with those who think differently than us.  The entire symposium was connected to utilizing the color energy model to build on how we can appreciate differences.”

In conjunction with MTI Business Solutions, Mobile SHRM will be piloting a fully online SHRM-CP/SCP certification prep class this year!!! Classes will start shortly after labor day and meet virtually on Monday evenings through early December. Final plans are being made now!
