Upcoming Professional Development Opportunities

Now that 2016 is in full swing, there are plenty of terrific professional development opportunities available to you!

  • Mobile SHRM has terrific monthly programs scheduled, featuring a variety of HR-focused topics. Check out the complete schedule at and mark your calendar (and RSVP!) for the ones you want to attend!
  • The 2016 Alabama SHRM State Conference & Expo will be held May 17 & 18 at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Uptown Birmingham.
  • The 2016 Mississippi Human Resources Conference and Expo will be held May 16 – 18 at Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi.
  • Mobile SHRM’s annual mini-conference will focus on various aspects of employment law/regulatory compliance this year. The half-day event is slated for June 10. You can choose to attend the full program or lunch-only.  
  • The SHRM 2016 Annual Conference & Exposition is slated for June 19 – 22 in Washington, D.C. Hotel rooms are filling quickly, so make your reservations right away if you plan to attend.
  • Plans are underway for Mobile SHRM’s annual Gulf Coast Human Resource Conference – likely with a new location and date! Watch for announcements in the coming months. If you’re interested in serving on the committee, exhibiting or sponsoring, reach out to Susie Jones at

Alabama Recognized in SHRM Foundation Top 10

Alabama SHRM has earned the distinction of ranking as  2015's 7th ranking fundraising state council for SHRM Foundation donations. and Mobile SHRM played a major role in that success. Funds raised from the Mobile chapter's silent auction and raffle fundraisers played a major role went directly to the SHRM Foundation along with donations made by individual chapter leaders and members. 

In 2015, Alabama SHRM and members within the state donated $13,980 to the SHRM Foundation.  Scholarships, resources, thought leadership and research are made possible because of these donations.
