President's Letter

If I had to pick the two biggest benefits of being active in SHRM, at both the national and local level, I’d have to say that they are (1) access to outstanding educational opportunities and (2) an opportunity to network with leading professionals in the HR field.

I first started getting involved in the Mobile SHRM chapter beyond simply attending meetings as part of the Gulf Coast Human Resources conference committee. As a result, I was able to serve in several leadership positions within the chapter, as well as get more involved with SHRM at a statewide and national level – all of which has benefited me personally and professionally.

Being involved with the conference not only provides a great way to build a strong professional network that will be with you for years, but it also allows you to have direct input into the educational and networking programs available to chapter members.

I encourage you to get involved with this year’s conference, which will be held November 4 at the Holiday Inn Downtown Historic District! Whether you attend the conference as a participant or sponsor or if you decide to get involved as a committee member, this year’s event is sure to provide awesome opportunities for networking and education!

Workforce Readiness

We are pleased with the generosity of book donations from our members but we have a way to go to meet and exceed our goal! Please consider purchasing a book from the Summer Reading List found on the Mobile SHRM website.
The school we are helping has more than 300 students in kindergarten through the 3rd grade. Many of these students do not have the resources to purchase or borrow these books to complete their reading assignments.

Help us help them be successful and improve the pipeline of future employees for us! Please bring your donations to our May meeting, drop them off at AIM Mail Service on Grelot Rd. or contact Nichelle Evans or Carol Statter to arrange to have them picked up.
